ALWAYS BE A PEACE SAILOR OF LOVE

The Sound - From The Lions Mouth (1981)

I discovered this English post-punk band only a few year ago (yeah I know, very late) and I deeply fell in love, especially with this album. 🎯 Every time I hear the first track ‘Winning’, I think of it as the perfect combination of Joy Division's cool but frightening soundscapes and a slow motion version of the synth theme from Falco's ‘Rock Me Amadeus’. 🙃 Please don't get me wrong, I mean this in the best possible way. 😂 A very powerful band, way ahead of their time. But when it comes to the lyrics, the tone of the album is deep-seated in the cold era of thatcherism. "I was going to drown, then I started swimming, I was going down, then I started winning, winning, winning, winning." 🥇
