Never Be Dead
"Things go wrong, things get lost", but we all know, with the last spark of punk in the fire: "Eventually everything will be fine". Olifr Maurmann and his Aeronauts are back, they take us by the hand and explain once again how "This exhausting life" goes. Grandios rousing, fabulously clever, stunningly funny and relentlessly honest, but never cynical and certainly never limp. This album is a miracle, an unexpected embrace, a huge comfort. For 13 tracks it is the "extra life" that Maurmann had in mind and yet never got: After two heart attacks, he waited in a hospital bed for four months in the fall of 2019 for a donor heart. In January 2020, his weak heart failed at the last moment. A shock that shook the German-language music world from Bern to Hamburg, after all, Maurmann alias GUZ, self-proclaimed "dumpling baron" and "Dirk von Lowtzow in rubber boots," was with the Aeronauts the only Swiss band with a good position in the "Hamburg school," soulmates with Superpunk or Knarf Rellöm and the other "village idiots who reinvented the big city," as he wrote ironically.
