Flash track of the day: Tom Waits 'Anywhere I Lay My Head' / Scarlett Johansson ‘Anywhere I Lay My Head’
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs (1985)
"Well I don't need anybody, because I learned, I learned to be alone. Well I said anywhere, anywhere, anywhere I lay my head, boys, well I gonna call my home." 🛌🏼
I will always love this record. How it sounds and what it tells me. And of course this iconic cover. I thought for a long time that one of the two persons was the young Tom Waits. But it is a pub photo from the Hamburg of the 60s by the Swedish photographer Anders Petersen. And it's also funny that I have a Yugoslavian pressing of the album, where my needle at the end of the first side immediately slides onto the label after the sentence
"It's time, time, time".
Then I always know that it's high time. ⏰😂
Thank you Mr. Waits.
And I think Scarlett Jonansson paid good respects to the song.
