Flash track of the day: Brad 'Buttercup'

Brad ‘Buttercup’ from their 1992 debut album ‘Shame’.

With this song I associate a story that I experienced last summer in a record store in Florence.

So I was already some ten minutes at the box with the new releases very close to the cash register, where the seller tested vinyl on sight. Then he put on this song. I listened devoutly and what I heard seemed suspiciously familiar. Especially the guitar playing I knew from somewhere. But I just didn't get it. So I asked the seller and he gladly enlightened me immediately. And then when I read the credits, everything became clear to me.

That was it! I heard Mother Love Bone and Pearl Jam. More precisely, it was the characteristic guitar playing of Stone Gossard. I was extremely infatuated with that sound in that store and of course I wanted to buy the record immediately. Unfortunately, this EU original pressing cost almost 100 euros and that was too much for me. But sure, I still regret that I didn't buy the record, because it's not easy to get.

So, if someone wants to make me a pleasure, I would be more than delighted.

And while we’re in Seattle… I still got goosebumps when listening to this.
